A Clear, Proven Path from Beginner to Advanced Rider

At Brandi’s Equestrian Riding Academy, every rider follows a structured progression designed to build confidence, skill, and true horsemanship. Our Rider Pathway™ ensures that each student advances with purpose -

mastering each level before moving forward.

Beginner Riders

Tiny Tots & Novice Levels (1–3)

Riders begin in a supportive, confidence-building environment focused on foundational skills.

Focus Includes:

  • Safe handling

  • Awareness around horses

  • Grooming and tacking

  • Basic horse care

  • Balanced riding at the walk and trot

  • Introduction to poles and simple patterns

Outcome:

Riders become comfortable, independent with basic horse handling, and develop a secure foundation in the saddle.

Intermediate Riders

Intermediate Levels (1–3)

As riders progress, they begin refining their skills and gaining independence.

Focus Includes:

  • Balance and control at walk, trot, and canter

  • Understanding diagonals, leads, and rider aids

  • Riding patterns such as circles, serpentines, and transitions

  • Beginner jumping techniques

  • Introduction to pole courses

  • Riding without stirrups to strengthen position

Outcome:

Riders gain confidence, consistency, and a deeper understanding of riding technique.

Advanced Riders

Advanced Levels (1–3)

Advanced riders develop precision, adaptability, and a higher level of horsemanship.

Focus Includes:

  • Riding without stirrups to strengthen position

  • Advanced flatwork and collection

  • Lead changes and lateral movements

  • Jumping courses with accuracy and rhythm

  • Riding and adapting to different horses

  • Leadership and teaching development

Outcome:

Riders become skilled, well-rounded equestrians with the ability to ride independently and effectively.

Graduate Riders

Pre-Graduate & Graduate Levels

These final levels represent mastery and readiness for advanced opportunities.

Focus Includes:

  • Advanced problem-solving

  • Horse understanding

  • Refinement of riding across all levels

  • Leadership

  • Mentorship

  • Teaching skills

Outcome:

Riders become comfortable, independent with basic horse handling, and develop a secure foundation in the saddle.

What You Don’t See Here (And Why)

Each level includes a detailed checklist of skills that riders must demonstrate and pass before advancing.

We intentionally don’t publish every requirement because our goal is to guide each rider step-by-step - ensuring they are supported, challenged appropriately, and truly learning.
